mindit chats with Mona Hristachi: “Be curious. Find out the things that bring you joy and do more of that”

Another week, another delightful “mindit chats” post. Today, we had the pleasure of talking with Mona Hristachi, our Co-COO, who shared her thoughts about what it means to be a part of mindit.io.
For me, it would be the exploration part. The freedom to explore different activities and roles, to see what you enjoy and are good at.

I started back in 2014 in background screening. Since then, I have undergone several roles as an analyst, sales representative, team coordinator, project manager, key account manager, and the diverse teams I was fortunate to be a part of.

Having the option of constantly trying new things and exploring the areas where you can bring added value is extremely important. For me, it was about the freedom of creating your own role, which also came with responsibilities, but being able to try, learn and try again in an environment where people are encouraging you to be the best version of yourself is valuable.

You try something, see if it works, and then keep on going. At mindit.io, I was free to try new things and had all the necessary support along the way. Not to mention the wonderful people I’ve met, who are constantly open to helping you and genuinely care for what we manage as a team.
I would say that from the very beginning, I knew I made the right choice to work here, given that I got the chance to explore several different types of activities straight from the get-go.

I began learning and sharing ideas with my colleagues, and everyone was very open. They made me feel comfortable coming up with solutions or trying new things, which allowed me to diversify my skills.
There are plenty of good days. I couldn’t possibly point them out one by one, but I could point out some milestones throughout my mindit.io journey.

The first would be when you see how people grow, and with guidance, entire teams become self-sufficient. It is truly remarkable how people complement each other.

Another one that I could pinpoint is tied to the production side when you finally go live with an app, a product, or a big feature you and your team have been working on for a while. You look around and see how everyone’s contribution and skills came together, which is one of the most rewarding feelings you can experience.

Come to think about it, all the milestones I could point out are in strong connection with the growth of people. The best days are when I look around; some of my colleagues have been in mindit.io for some time already and notice how much they have grown.
When I look back, I can say that I am simply happy to be here. Pride comes from being part of a team with which you started a project, and you all grew together along the way. Even though you had achieved the project’s goals in mind, it is not the only thing that has been completed.

As I previously said, I’m happy and proud to see teams becoming self-sufficient. Seeing a team coming together is something that makes me both proud and pleased at the same time.
There are projects where I am more hands-on, but at this point, I would say that mindit.io is my team. I view it as one big team where everybody crafts their role. I see my role as someone who addresses needs and facilitates interactions, whether on the delivery side or the support part of our operations.
There are many, but if I had to choose just one, that would be the Flexi anniversary benefit that mindit.io offers. The Flexi anniversary means having extra vacation days or a travel budget, which increases every two years for anyone who is part of mindit.io.

Since I love traveling, I like this benefit because it allows me to enjoy new experiences.
Having gone through several different roles in mindit.io, I can honestly say that I have grown a lot professionally over the years. From the beginning, when I started out in background screening, and all the way to the present, I believe that everything has been a continuous learning process, which I still enjoy.

There are many skills that I had the chance to develop in time. Still, one of the skills I got the context to explore more evolved around identifying and understanding the needs. How do you ask the right questions to understand the real need to be able to provide support, and where is the case to come up with the right solutions?

Through servant leadership, you can better understand how you can help a colleague or a partner, and that’s something that I resonate with.

I’m still growing, learning, and experimenting. And I believe that this defines my professional career more than any other role.
Be curious. Try new things. Do not be afraid to explore, especially for those beginning their professional journey. Find out the things that bring you joy and do more of that.

At the end of the day, ask yourself what makes you happy. Even if something is challenging, as long as you keep your curiosity alive and look forward to learning something new each day, you will have much satisfaction.
I really enjoy Irvin Yalom as an author.

Regarding TV shows, I don’t have a favorite, but I enjoy watching a good comedy.
