mindit chats with Gabriel Stoicescu: “I love the fact that mindit.io has an organizational culture based on people and the interactions between them”

Alexandru Celmare decided to tag his buddy for this week’s edition of the mindit chats series, and we couldn’t have talked to a more relaxed, funny, and down to Earth person.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Gabriel Stoicescu!

1. What’s something that happened to you that can only happen here? What’s a unique part about working here?

To be honest, I love the fact that mindit.io has an organizational culture based on people and the interactions between them. It’s a warm and friendly environment and you don’t have any barriers or restraints when talking to your colleagues, no matter the team, or department they are part of.

I think it’s a really nice thing to feel like you’re part of one big community where people interact with each other not just as colleagues, but also as friends.

2. How have you grown professionally while on our team?

In my situation, working in support, I get to talk and constantly interact with people from all mindit.io teams and departments. This automatically leads to both professional and personal growth.

Not only do I learn a lot of applications and technologies from the IT sector, but I also get to improve my social and people skills.

I started off without any experience in the IT field, and now I feel like I’ve grown exponentially given the wonderful people I had the chance to work with and the diverse projects I had the opportunity to be involved in.

It’s truly a great place to grow as a professional, especially when it comes to this fast-paced environment you’ll find when working in IT.

3. What was the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to work here?

Straight from the start. From the very beginning, I knew I had made the right choice because mindit.io gave me the chance to become a better professional in a sector that always triggered my interest.

It’s a place that encourages you to constantly learn and improve your skills, either through training programs or simply through the hands-on experience you acquire from the various projects you’re part of.

4. How would you describe an ideal day at work?

On my side, when it comes to the Support Team, I simply love going into our daily “sync calls”. You basically feel like you’re having coffee with your friends, but you’re also getting stuff done at the same time.

Although I’m glad that we can work from anywhere, I enjoy coming to the office whenever my team decides to gather there. I always come there because I feel like we can work a lot better, and we can send or receive information a lot faster as opposed to simply working online.

But having the luxury to pick and choose when/or whether to come to the office or not is a real plus, and this makes you enjoy and appreciate your colleagues and the whole team even more.

So my ideal day at work is a day where I get to talk with my teammates, we get to share some laughs, and finish all the tasks that come in that day.

5. What is your team like?

Fantastic. And I mean it. I actually have a lot of friends inside the team, people with whom I talk and get together even in non-work-related contexts. And Ioana Vasile, our Team Manager, is “God’s bread” if you want to literally translate the Romanian expression “Painea lui Dumnezeu”.

They’re simply a pleasure to work with and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t ask to be in a better team.

6. Which benefits are your favorite and why?

My favorite benefit, which goes without saying, is minditNomad. My brother and I, who is also part of the same team, take advantage of the Bucharest house as many times as we can.

Whenever we come to the office from Pitesti, where we live, we also take the time and stay a couple of days at the Bucharest Bravo minditNomad home. We actually feel right at home here, in the heart of the city.

And if you add to this benefit all the special days that are constantly organized at the office, like massage day, pancakes day, cocktails day, awesome team building parties, and whatever, you name it, mindit.io has it, you find yourself working in an ideal place, where people are treated like… PEOPLE!

7. What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining mindit.io?

In the words of the great Nike, “Just do it!” I even recommended my brother and now he’s part of the team. And to put things clearly, I like my brother.

Seriously, why wait? You’re going to love it here. Sure, it depends on what kind of person you are and what you’re looking for, but I’m quite positive that you’ll find an ideal working place at mindit.io. I mean… how could you not when you’re surrounded by such amazing individuals?

Go for it! Here you can find our OPEN ROLES, so all you have to do is… apply today!

8. If you could do anything else for a living, in an alternative universe, what would that be?

I really like football, so I fancy myself as being a professional football player in an alternative universe. But I also have a lot of other alternative careers in mind.

A rockstar for example, because I enjoy music. Or maybe a race driver, or a race car reviewer. I’m not quite sure if I like driving fast, or simply enjoy cars and reading about them.

And another thing I could see myself being is a professional gamer. But I’m not that talented. Yet. However, never say never.

9. What movie, book, or TV show would you recommend? How do you relax and unwind?

In my spare time, I want to watch TV shows, but I never get the chance. I started watching Breaking Bad, and yes, I know I’m late to the party but better late than never, right?

I also play on my PlayStation when I try to relax, but that doesn’t always work out well, because sometimes I get annoyed by my lack of talent, and I shut it off.

Other than that, I spend time with my friends, and my girlfriend, and simply chill. I also eat a lot of junk food, but I’m not fat… Yet. Fingers crossed for Gabriel of the future. That’s going to be his problem, not mine.

10. Who would you tag next to be interviewed by us?

I’d like to tag Gabriel Enciu, because he was my buddy when I first started at mindit.io, and we have a dubious number of things in common – our name included.

Gabi, my man, TAG, you’re it!
