Spanning approximately 1,400 km from Putna to Drobeta Turnu Severin, Via Transilvanica offers a journey that can be undertaken over several weeks or in parts within a few days. This trail, brimming with historical and cultural significance, provides travelers with data on accommodation, dining options, and rich insights into diverse geographical areas.
The path is clearly marked with durable identification elements, facilitating a traveler’s orientation throughout the journey. Efforts have been made to present accurate information on the route’s level of difficulty, ensuring an informed and enjoyable experience for adventurers.
The development of this expansive route occurred in several stages. The initial 100 km were completed in 2018 within Bistrița-Năsăud county. Subsequent progress led to a cumulative 800 km by 2020, encompassing Suceava, Mureș, Harghita, Brașov, Sibiu, and Mehedinți counties. In 2021, an additional 254 km were completed in Caraș-Severin county. By 2022, the entire 1,400 km was prepared, including the addition of Hunedoara and Alba counties to the route.
