May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a national observance initiated by Mental Health America in 1949 to highlight the significance of mental wellbeing. Today, throughout the world, individuals and organizations unite to raise awareness and tackle the challenges faced by those living with mental health conditions.

Year after year, mindit.io celebrates Mental Health Awareness in May, recognizing the importance of mental health. This year, our campaign is called “Move up mindit!” and it focuses on various aspects of mental health, where our people will be attending several events, workshops, training sessions, and last, but not least, sports activities.

Professor Tudor Mihaita, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 3rd Degree Black Belt and Founder of Absoluto Fighting Center, Romania’s most prolific martial arts club, held a seminar for us where he focused on self-defense.

He started by saying that situational awareness is one of the first things people need to take into account to prevent unwanted situations from taking place. This means that we should always be aware of our surroundings, avoid shady areas, and also learn the basics of self-defense to be prepared for the unprepared.

Professor Tudor Mihaita, who is Romania’s first black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), continued to show us some specific moves and opened up about the philosophy behind jiu-jitsu and martial arts in general.
“Jiu-jitsu is not just a set of techniques, it’s a state of mind,” Tudor Mihaita explained.

We’d like to thank Tudor for the time & knowledge he shared with us. It was truly a unique experience where we had the chance to step aside from our desks and laptops and jump directly on the mats to focus on unexpected real-life scenarios and how we should approach them.
For people who would like to try a different approach at improving and maintaining their mental health all year-round, not just during the month of May, Absoluto Fighting Center has 3 clubs in Bucharest, Romania, and you can attend a free initial training session.
Health is wealth!
