mindit chats with Flaviu Lupan: “The culture encourages exploration of different projects and initiatives.”

What’s something that happened to you that can only happen here? What’s unique about mindit.io?

One of the most unique experiences that mindit.io offers, which I believe truly sets it apart, especially in today’s increasingly remote world, is the opportunity to access the minditNomad benefit. This initiative allows us not just to travel but also to work effectively from various beautiful locations. Moreover, this gives the opportunity for the team members to meet and collaborate in person, which has significantly strengthened our connections and team cohesion.

How have you grown professionally while on our team?

One of the key ways I’ve grown professionally at mindit.io is through the opportunity to get involved in various aspects of the business beyond my official role. The culture encourages exploration of different projects and initiatives, allowing me to develop skills in areas I might not have otherwise been exposed to.

What was the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to work here?

When I received my first pay cheque 😀 but to be honest this was the second confirmation that I made a good decision, the first and most important was right at the outset, when mindit.io offered me the trust and opportunity to start as a QA automation engineer despite my upfront admission that I was quite rusty after a four-year break from the field.

Their confidence in my ability to re-engage and succeed in automation, even when I had doubts due to the time away, was incredibly affirming. This blend of professional trust and personal reward truly confirmed that joining mindit.io was the right choice for my career and personal growth.

How would you describe an ideal day at work?

An ideal day at work for me at mindit.io is one where I can genuinely ask myself, ‘To work, or not to work?’ This question encapsulates the trust and support I receive to manage my energy and commitments effectively, allowing me to deliver my best work without compromise. My ideal day involves tackling challenging projects where I’m deeply engaged and making meaningful progress, while also having the flexibility to step back when needed.

In one word, how would you describe your team?

Adaptable – This characteristic is particularly vital given that we often work remotely. Our adaptability allows us to maintain high performance and uphold professionalism, even in the face of significant changes and challenges.

If you could swap jobs with anyone in mindit.io for a day, who would it be and why? What do you think would be the most surprising thing about their role?

If I could swap jobs with anyone at mindit.io, I would choose either Irina Arsene, the Founder & Chair of the Board, or Lucia Stoicescu, the CEO. Both roles fascinate me not just because of the wealth of knowledge and experience I could gain from stepping into their shoes, but also because of the profound responsibility their positions entail.

I am particularly curious about experiencing a day in the life where your decisions impact the entire company. The thought of having hundreds of people rely on your choices to ensure everything runs smoothly and successfully is both daunting and exhilarating. It would be an incredible opportunity to understand the weight and breadth of leadership at such a high level and to see firsthand how strategic decisions are made and executed.

Which benefits are your favorite and why?

My favorite benefit at mindit.io is undoubtedly the minditNomad program. This unique perk allows employees the flexibility to travel and work from different locations, blending the best of both worlds.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining mindit.io?

As the famous Apple slogan says : “Think Different” – because at mindit.io, you’ll find a culture that values creativity and offers you the space to explore your potential.

Check out the fantastic opportunities in our OPEN ROLES, and think about taking the plunge to be part of our team today!

What is the mindit.io value you feel the most and how you do you live it?

The value I resonate with most at mindit.io is a tie between ‘teamwork’ and ‘professionalism.’ These values are foundational to how we operate and crucial for our success. I live these values daily by collaborating closely with my colleagues, ensuring that we support each other in achieving our collective goals. At the same time, I uphold professionalism by consistently delivering quality work, respecting everyone’s ideas and contributions, and adhering to our high standards of conduct.

If you could do anything else for a living, in an alternative universe, what would that be?

In an alternative universe, I would choose to be a filmmaker. This career path would combine my passions for storytelling, exploration, and social impact. As a filmmaker, I could travel the world, meet diverse people, and tell important stories with the potential to influence opinions and inspire change.

What movie, book, or TV show would you recommend? How do you relax and unwind?

When it comes to movies, I can highly recommend any film that leaves you questioning everything – titles like ‘The Matrix,’ ‘Inception,’ ‘Ex Machina,’ ‘Interstellar,’ ‘Arrival,’ or ‘Cloud Atlas.’ These thought-provoking masterpieces offer journeys beyond the ordinary, exploring themes of reality, consciousness, and the vast mysteries of the universe.

For relaxation and unwinding, my go-to choices are airsoft and basketball. Both sports demand physical exertion, a fantastic way to release stress and improve overall well-being.

Who would you tag next to be interviewed by us?
