mindit chats with Adrian Salamon: “I’m fortunate to work with such a kind and open-minded crew.”

Vlad Muresan decided to put his good ol’ friend and colleague to work and he challenged Adrian Salamon to be this week’s mindit chats sensation!

Let’s have a look at how our chat with Adrian went.

1. What’s something that happened to you that can only happen here? What’s unique about mindit.io?

mindit.io is an organization that checks all the right boxes when it comes to delivering a product that the customers use with joy.

It’s the kind of team that would provide a bright future for your hard work and determination.

Also, if you are willing to put in extra work to pivot your career to support, development, or operations, mindit.io can make that happen for you!

2. How have you grown professionally while on our team?

While working here I got to deepen my expertise in microservices architectural principle, development, and testing of such applications while prioritizing performance, scalability, and maintainability in an environment of highly motivated and skilled teammates.

I also managed to pick up some neat tricks with Spring Boot and SQL that improved my development performance significantly.

3. What was the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to work here?

We try to keep our stack as up-to-date as possible and although upgrading an existing project is not a painless process, the benefits of playing around with cutting-edge tech are always worth it and satisfying.

The mindit.io community is kind and skilled and there’s constant learning and improvement going on wherever you look. That’s how you know you’re in the right place.

4. How would you describe an ideal day at work?

This will sound odd but the ideal day at work for me would start with some unexpected problem that would require the attention of the whole dev team to try and fix it.

During this time, we all present different techniques, perspectives, and potential solutions that we explore and discuss with each other, and eventually someone comes up with the right solution that makes the problem go away.

This would be ideal for me because, at the end of a day like this, we all become slightly better engineers while also growing slightly closer as a team.

5. In one word, how would you describe your team?

I would say that my team is best described as a dedicated one. With enthusiastic people who are always eager to lend their expertise whenever necessary to anyone in need.

I’m fortunate to work with such a kind and open-minded crew.

6. Which benefits are your favorite and why?

For me, the work-life balance, and the ability to work fully remotely from anywhere you see fit suits me quite nicely and I feel like it accelerated my career significantly.

Also, the hardware equipment provided is quite powerful and up-to-date.

7. What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining mindit.io?

If you’re up for using cutting-edge technologies for solving challenging problems while being surrounded by a kind and skilled community that has your back, mindit.io is the right place for you.

There’s always something new to learn here and your career will advance rapidly because of it.

Take a look at our OPEN ROLES, and apply today! There’s always room for cool and talented people at mindit.io! Trust me, I know them!

8. If you could do anything else for a living, in an alternative universe, what would that be?

If I were to pick another career, I think psychology would be the next best thing for me since I find debugging programs quite enjoyable and assume debugging humans would scratch the same itch so to speak.

Also, I’m doing a lot of technical thinking at work. During my free time, I try to explore more subjective or humanistic ways of thinking to keep an open mind and decrease thinking biases.

9. What movie, book, or TV show would you recommend? How do you relax and unwind?

I like to read whenever I find the time, some great books I picked lately would be Dealers of Lightning and Where Wizards stay up late which are great origin stories for the technologies that everyone uses daily for either work or leisure.

Also, The Fall by Albert Camus and The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky are great choices if you’re in the mood for some introspection.

I enjoyed watching The Grand Budapest Hotel and Whiplash.

And in my spare time, I also enjoy going on long walks, running outdoors, and listening to old records.

10. Who would you tag next to be interviewed by us?

I would like to tag Ailin Ismail to thank her for providing me with the chance to meet this great community. So, Ailin, TAG, you’re it!
