About the role:
We are seeking a Linux Administrator to support and build a new Point-of-Sale (POS) domain infrastructure. The role is responsible for designing, deploying, securing, and operating Linux-based environments that host critical POS applications and services, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across retail operations.
This position plays a key role in establishing foundational infrastructure standards for a new POS landscape and requires strong Linux expertise combined with experience in mission-critical, high-availability environments.
Responsibilities:
Linux Infrastructure Setup & Operations
- Build, configure, and maintain Linux servers for POS domain environments (DEV / TEST / PROD)
- Install, configure, and manage POS-related services and applications
- Ensure system availability, performance, and scalability for retail workloads
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
POS Domain Enablement
- Support the onboarding of new POS applications and services
- Collaborate with POS application, integration, and middleware teams
- Ensure Linux environments meet POS operational and performance requirements
- Support store-to-central systems connectivity and data flows
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain Linux security hardening standards
- Manage users, roles, permissions, and access controls
- Apply security patches and address vulnerabilities
- Ensure compliance with internal IT and security policies
Monitoring, Incident & Problem Management
- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Diagnose and resolve system-level incidents (L2/L3 support)
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring or critical issues
- Provide on-call or critical support during peak retail periods
Automation & Optimization
- Automate routine operational tasks using shell scripting / Ansible / similar tools
- Optimize system performance (CPU, memory, storage, I/O)
- Support capacity planning and proactive system improvements
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and procedures
- Work closely with DevOps, Network, Security, and POS application teams
- Support testing, cutovers, and go-live activities for the new POS domain
What are we looking for:
Technical Skills
- Strong experience administering Linux systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, or similar)
- Solid understanding of system services, networking, storage, and filesystem management
- Experience with POS or retail environments is a strong plus
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix, ELK, etc.)
- Experience with automation and scripting (Bash, Ansible, etc.)
- Familiarity with virtualization and/or cloud platforms (VMware, cloud IaaS)
Infrastructure & Operations
- Experience supporting business-critical systems with high availability requirements
- Understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery concepts
- Knowledge of performance tuning and capacity management
- Experience working in ITIL-based support environments
